1Why it exists

Every new chat meets your business for the first time.

No matter how much you told it yesterday. Your clients, your prices and last week's decisions are gone, so the first ten minutes of every chat go to catching it up.

Monday

What does your business do?

Tuesday

What does your business do?

Wednesday

What does your business do?

Same questions. Again.

No matter how much you told it yesterday.

Where it breaks

Every chat

It starts from zero.

Who your clients are, how you sign off, what it should never do. Every time.

Long chats

The start falls off the end.

A chat can only hold so much. The part where you explained the business is the first thing it drops.

Projects

They don't talk to each other.

Sales can't see what Clients knows, and none of it comes with you if you switch tools.

2How it works

One folder, read at the start of every chat.

One folder on your side that Claude opens before every chat. Short rule pages on top, the details below, and every client in its own place so nothing mixes.

Mounted · MEMORY.md updated Oct 30 · Model: Sonnet

Once it's set up, every chat opens with this line. It means Claude has read your notebook.

Saved to the memory page and Clients.

  1. Plug in the folder. You attach it once per chat. That's what “mounted” means.
  2. Claude says Mounted. The first line of every chat. If it's missing, the folder isn't attached.
  3. It reads the rulebook first.House rules, how you like things, and today's memory page.
  4. It opens only what the job needs.Ask about a client and it goes straight to that client's folder.
  5. It saves the day back.Say you're done and it writes what happened into the folder.

What you get

  • The setup kit Claude reads and follows, start to finish
  • Folders for clients, projects and operations, sorted from what you already have
  • Eleven routines, “wrap up” and “make this a skill” among them
  • An eight-point safety check that locks your accounts down first
  • A live checklist that fills itself in while Claude builds
  • Every future version. Your link always opens the latest kit

Setting this up by hand took my clients about two hours with me beside them. Untethered Brain has Claude do it in about ten minutes.

3Set it up

Three steps. Claude does the rest.

1Install the app.

The Claude desktop app, on Mac or Windows. The website can't open folders on your computer.

2Make one folder.

Call it anything. Put it inside Google Drive if you use it, so it's backed up.

3Paste one sentence.

You get it the moment you pay. Claude asks a few questions and builds everything around your files.

While it builds

You get a checklist that fills itself in.

Claude opens it next to your chat and ticks off each step as it goes, with every file it made and what comes next.

It asks about you, not about software.

Your name, what the business does, the four to eight parts of the work you want covered, the people you deal with most and the apps you run on.

It learns your voice, if you say yes.

It reads 50 to 100 of your old sent emails so its drafts sound like you, and shows you what it noticed before it uses any of it.

It proves itself in a brand new chat.

It checks the setup works from cold, then does one real job with you before it calls itself done.

Three promises

1

It asks before it acts.

Before it makes, moves, changes or sends anything, it tells you the plan and waits for your yes.

2

Nothing goes out in your name.

Every email, text or post waits for your OK on the exact words.

3

It never deletes.

Old files move to an archive by month. Anything can come back.

4Stay safe

The last step checks your locks.

Letting Claude use your email and computer is like handing someone a set of keys. So setup ends with eight safety checks, about 30 to 45 minutes. Claude does the looking and you make every call. It never asks for a password.

Your email

Whoever gets into your email can get into Claude, and from there your computer. So we add a passkey on each device, an authenticator app with backup codes, and turn off text-message codes.

For Mac and Windows

Auto-lock

Emergency card

Eight steps, about 10 minutes, if anything ever looks wrong.

See the steps
  1. Quit the Claude app, or turn off Wi-Fi.
  2. Switch off the Claude extension in Chrome.
  3. Log Claude out of every device.
  4. Change your email password and sign out everywhere.
  5. Unplug any app that can send or pay for you.
  6. Freeze your cards and call your bank.
  7. Check sent email and bank activity.
  8. Write down what you saw, and when.

It also swapped my text-message login codes for an authenticator app and passkeys. After the lock was on, I asked Claude to use my computer. It couldn't.

5Its rhythm

It saves every day and tidies up on its own.

You say “I'm done, let's wrap up” at the end of each day. On Fridays and once a month it cleans up without being asked.

One month. Each weekday starts with Claude reading the notebook and ends with you saving the day.

Every evening

“I'm done, let's wrap up.”

It files the day into the right pages.

Fridays

A tidy-up on its own.

Stray files, old notes and unlabeled folders, fixed, with a note on what it did.

Monthly

A checkup.

It looks over the whole setup, re-runs the safety check and tells you if anything needs you.

Questions

What if Claude goes down, or I want to switch?

The folder is plain text on your own drive. Point ChatGPT, Gemini or a local model at it and it reads the same files.

Which Claude plan do I need?

Any paid plan with the desktop app.

Mac or Windows?

Both. The auto-lock is verified on Mac and in testing on Windows.

I'm not technical. Will I get stuck?

You make a folder and paste one sentence. Claude does the rest and checks with you before it moves a file.

I stopped halfway through.

Your progress is saved in the folder. Start a new task with the same folder and send “keep going.”

How do I know it worked?

Start a new task and send “root check.” The reply opens with a Mounted line, then ROOT OK.

What's the refund?

Fourteen days, in full, if it won't run on your computer.
